About BAY FLIGHT
BAY FLIGHT 2019 is a one-day aviation conference for SF Bay Area pilots on Saturday, October 26, 2019. The event will bring together pilots, aircraft owners, air traffic controllers, and educators to discuss a variety of current topics in aviation. BAY FLIGHT 2019 is hosted by San Carlos Flight Center and will be held at the Seaport Conference Center in Redwood City.
The event will include a keynote address by Jason Miller of The Finer Points of Flying, multiple breakout sessions, and will include an Air Traffic Control panel discussion on ways to improve pilot/controller communication. The purpose is twofold: to improve the knowledge and skills of local pilots, and to create an event that pulls together the general aviation community to discuss shared goals, to see old friends, and to make new ones.
BAY FLIGHT 2019 is an extension of San Carlos Flight Center’s active Safety Seminar and Guest Speaker program. For more than 6 years, San Carlos Flight Center has welcomed in local pilots for ongoing training, discussion, and exposure to the latest and greatest in general aviation. The program has grown to feature events every Wednesday evening and every Saturday at noon at SCFC’s office at San Carlos Airport. Each year, more than 2,300 Bay Area pilots attend one or more events at San Carlos Flight Center.
San Carlos Flight Center’s motto is “Safety. Community. Adventure.” When the Airplane Owners and Pilots Association discontinued their popular annual AOPA Summit in 2014, the pilot community lost an important community and training event. This year, San Carlos Flight Center is glad to continue the tradition of bringing together pilots from the San Francisco Bay Area to share stories of safety, community, and adventure. We hope you will join us.
BAY FLIGHT 2019 will celebrate the best in SF Bay Area aviation. “Bay Flight” also happens to be the call sign for San Carlos Flight Center members and aircraft. If you hear “Bay Flight” on the radio, it means another SCFC pilot has taken to the sky to improve their skills, share the fun of flying with their family and friends, or just revel in the adventure that is SF Bay Area flying.
